General Manager Cranbrook Curling Centre Location: Cranbrook, BC Reports to: Board of Directors Position Summary The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and day-to-day operations of the Cranbrook Curling Centre. Working closely with the Board of Directors, the GM ensures the Centre operates in a financially responsible, safe, and welcoming manner while supporting the growth of curling, membership engagement, and community use of the facility. The GM provides strategic leadership, manages staff and volunteers, oversees programs and events, and ensures the long-term sustainability of the Curling Centre. This is a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Governance Implement policies, strategic priorities, and direction established by the Board of Directors Serve as the primary liaison between the Board, staff, volunteers, members, and external stakeholders Provide regular reports to the Board, including operational updates, financial reports, and risk assessments Support Board committees and attend Board meetings as required Operations & Facilities Management Oversee daily operations of the Curling Centre, including ice operations, scheduling, leagues, bonspiels, and special events Ensure the facility is maintained to a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and functionality Manage contracts and relationships with service providers, suppliers, and regulators Ensure compliance with applicable bylaws, safety regulations, and insurance requirements Financial Management Prepare and manage the annual operating budget in collaboration with the Board Treasurer and book keeper Monitor revenues and expenses, ensuring fiscal responsibility and financial sustainability Oversee cash handling, financial controls, payroll, and reporting Identify and pursue opportunities for revenue generation, sponsorships, grants, and fundraising Human Resources & Volunteer Management Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff Support and coordinate volunteers, including league coordinators and event committees Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture Ensure compliance with employment standards and workplace health and safety requirements Programming, Membership & Community Engagement Oversee league programming, youth and adult development programs, and community bookings Promote membership growth, retention, and engagement Build strong relationships with Curling BC, local organizations, schools, and community partners Act as an ambassador for the Cranbrook Curling Centre within the community Marketing & Communications Oversee marketing, communications, and social media presence Promote leagues, events, rentals, and sponsorship opportunities Ensure clear and effective communication with members and stakeholders

Qualifications & Experience Minimum Grade 12 Diploma 2 – 3 years of proven experience in management, preferably in a recreation, sport, hospitality, or non-profit environment Strong financial management and budgeting skills Experience in fundraising through grant applications, sponsorships, and community partnerships Experience supervising staff and working with a wide range of volunteers Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Knowledge of curling operations is an asset, but not required Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently Must have, or be willing to obtain a Serving It Right, Food Safe and a First Aid Certificate Criminal Record check will be required

Some evenings and weekend work are required Compensation & Hours • $55,000 + • Extended hours during the peak season, including evenings and weekends • Full-time, year-round role • Flexible and reduced hours during the summer months
