Hello everyone!! I am very excited to be the new manager of the Cranbrook Curling Centre! Some of you may have seen the Facebook post introducing me but I wanted to personally introduce myself as well. I started curling when I was 5 years old and have been doing it ever since. I have had the privilege of receiving coaching and instruction from some of the best coaches and competitive curlers in the world. I have lots of experience instructing adult and junior curlers of all abilities and look forward to getting to coach learn-to-curls and the junior program here. For non-curling activities I love sports (I am a massive Montreal Canadiens and Saskatchewan Roughriders fan), watch a ton of movies, read a lot of books, and listen to music nearly constantly. I am more than happy to talk about any of these interests as I have a lot of opinions to share on all of them. My goal in taking over the manager’s position here is to ensure the continued health and success of the Cranbrook Curling Club. I want to increase the number and diversity of the club’s membership, increase the quantity and quality of our offered programming, and ensure that the facility itself has improvements it needs to continue offering all users an enjoyable experience. I want you all to know that my door (and email inbox) is always open if you have any questions or concerns or just want to chat. I am trying to be in the office from 10-5 every day. I’ve already met a few members who have come by to say hi which has been great to see! I look forward to meeting the rest of you as we get towards the curling season. I am going to be sending out a survey sometime in the next week, if you can please fill it out as it will give me an idea of what I need to work on at the club and help to schedule programming for the upcoming season. When you fill out the survey you will be entered into a draw to win $100 off your fees for the upcoming season! Thank you all for reading this if you’re still here. I am going to try and send out a newsletter once a month to keep everyone informed of what is going on at the Club. On that note keep your eyes on our website and social media as our events schedule and registration for our first event of the year – Bags to Brooms – will be coming soon! Have a great day, Sean Kirkland
